-Access to materials required to make paper clay including flour, cellulose insulation, and drywall joint compound.

This is a special class where you have the chance to design an original character for your Halloween haunt, party or yard display.

The first evening of the workshop will be all about design and creating a terrifying back-story as we work as a team to bring your character to life on paper utilizing several different exercises and brain- storming techniques.

The remaining classes will be used to bring your papier mache creation to life using an arsenal of different techniques.

This is an ambitious class geared towards the hardcore Halloween enthusiast.

So what’s it going to be… A Twisted Clown? A Mutated Pig Creature?  A Rusty Medieval Knight?  The first night of class all you need is a simple idea and we will flesh out all the details.

Papier mache can be a bit messy so please dress accordingly.

The class uses a variety of non-hazardous materials such as flour, glue and joint compound as well as latex and acrylic paints.

Participants will also be required to use hot glue guns and a variety of sharp cutting tools such as scissors and razor blades.

The workshops can be physically demanding requiring participants to stand, kneel, lift and work in uncomfortable positions.

Workshop cost is $125 per person which includes all tools and materials.

This workshop will show you how to turn recycled cardboard and newspaper into a ghoulish miniature haunted houses. During the sessions you learn how to build armatures, work with homemade paper clay and create dozens of accessories for your haunted house.

NOTE: This workshop requires cellulose fiber insulation to make the paper clay used in the process. Please make sure you have access to this material before registering.

Price: $100.00 USD per person.

This workshop will show you how to turn recycled cardboard and newspaper into a rotting zombie head. During the workshop you will learn how to assemble the armature using supplied templates as well as how to sculpt with homemade paper clay.

NOTE: This workshop requires cellulose fiber insulation to make the paper clay used in the process. Please make sure you have access to this material before registering.

Papier Mache Workshop

This is the last Pumpkin workshop for the 2013 Halloween season!

This is your chance to start building some great Jack O’Lantern props for Halloween. The September Pumpkin Workshop will allow participants to create their own large pumpkin complete with an elaborate carved face of their choosing. Past workshops have proven to be a very fun and enjoyable experience all while learning many different papier mache techniques.

This unique experience is recommended for those 12 years and older. The workshops can be physically demanding requiring participants to stand, kneel, lift and work in uncomfortable positions. Papier mache can be a bit messy so please dress accordingly. The class uses a variety of non-hazardous materials such as flour, glue and joint compound, as well as latex and acrylic paints.

Gargoyles

Papier Mache Workshop

The biggest and most ambitious workshop ever, fifteen hours of prop building fun as you create a large 28 inch high Gargoyle. Over the course of five evenings you will build a complex armature and work with several different papier mache techniques to make a unique Gargoyle prop.

This workshop will be fun but also note that it will be a lot of work. Up to the challenge? Give us a call.

Tombstones

Papier Mache Workshop

 

The first Tombstone Workshop was so much fun and produced such amazing results that another has been added for October.

Introducing the new STOLLOWEEN Papier Mache Tombstone Workshop, your chance to create a large, fully three dimensional and very creepy tombstone. During the workshop you will learn several different papier mache techniques along with methods to make engraved lettering, bevels, skull adornments, ornate designs, crack, spider webs and vines.

Students will need to supply their own large cardboard box and foam packaging materials and have access to a computer and printer for the tombstone lettering. Further details will be discussed when you call to register.

This unique experience is recommended for those 12 years and older. The workshops can be physically demanding requiring participants to stand, kneel,  lift and work in uncomfortable positions. Workshop Galleries

DRAGON WORKSHOP II (12)

Over the past year I have taught six papier mache workshops at Space Studios, a local art gallery/pottery studio located in Midland, MI. 

 

 The workshops have featured dragons, frogs, gargoyles and pumpkins. Forty three students have attended the workshops and I have logged over 70 hours of teaching experience. The workshops have consumed hundreds of pounds of four, hundreds of hot glue sticks, countless rolls of masking tape and many pounds of recycled newspaper.

 

The best thing about teaching workshops besides the chance to play with papier mache is the chance to meet a variety of creative and talented people. Most folks attending the workshops had not worked with papier mache since their elementary school days and the classes showed them all the wonders possible with papier mache.
