This month I am running two Online Papier Mache Workshops, an Advanced Gargoyle Workshop and a Pumpkin Workshop.
January is the perfect time to take a class and start building for October of 2017 because a lot of us are stuck inside during the cold winter months and starting early gives you plenty of time to create the Halloween display of your dreams.
Start the New Year right and learn a new skill and gain a new hobby.
ADVANCED GARGOYLE WORKSHOP
(Three evenings – 8 pm until 9:30 pm EST.)
Tuesday, January 10th, 8pm – 9:30 pm EST.
Tuesday, January 17th, 8pm – 9:30 pm EST.
Tuesday, January 24th, 8pm – 9:30 pm EST.
This is an Advanced Workshop meaning that you need to have taken one of my previous workshops or you have a solid understanding of papier mache including using paste, clay as well as dry brush painting techniques.
This workshop will teach you how to build a classic style Gargoyle or Grotesque using nothing more than recycled cardboard, newspaper, scap plywood and papier mache. Each element is such as the head, body and wings are constructed separately then assembled into a very cool finished prop.
This is a work intensive project but well worth the time. You will learn a great many techniques to build complex armatures from cardboard as well as incorporating other mediums into the build.

NOTE: This workshop requires cellulose fiber insulation to make the paper clay used in the process. Please make sure you have access to this material before registering.

PUMPKIN WORKSHOP

The Online Papier Mache Pumpkin Workshop, a completely new approach to creating papier mache pumpkins that is easier, faster and yields superior results.
Gone are the days of stuffing a garbage bag with newspaper or working with an inflated beach ball, while great techniques this new method is better.
The Character Pumpkin Workshop will allow you to:
-Create any shape pumpkin you desire easily and precisely. (pear, oval, squashed)
-Build a pumpkin of any size.
-Reduce amount of strip mache needed.
-Reduce amount of clay needed.
-Achieve faster dry times.
-Create complex mouth features quickly and easily.
-Design and incorporate extreme three-dimensional features.

ABOUT AND HOW TO REGISTER
These workshops are an effective way to learn to work with papier mache on a project specific basis.
Each class is three sessions long, one class a week for three weeks.
During each session you have the opportunity to watch a live demonstration of the steps needed to complete your project as well as interact by asking questions specific to your particular project.
The atmosphere is casual and friendly, this is not rocket science, but there is a lot of information covered so be prepared to do a lot of work.

-Access to materials required to make paper clay including flour, cellulose insulation, and drywall joint compound.
