Black Cats Studio Workshop

Monday, September 10th, 6 pm – 9 pm

Monday, September 17th, 6 pm – 9 pm

Monday, September 24th, 6 pm – 9 pm

Monday, October 1st, 6 pm – 9 pm

I have been wanting to do a black cat project for a number of years and finally got around to making it happen. The feisty felines stand about 12 inches tall and are created with two different papier mache techniques.

The first night of class you will design the shape of the head, body and tail and put your cat in your favorite pose. After the design work is done we use homemade paper clay to sculpt and create all the fun details.

Before you ask, no, you do not have to paint your cat black…you can choose whatever color scheme you desire, I went with black to make them Halloween appropriate.

This is a fun workshop and everyone’s cat will be their own vision. The armature technique used for this project is unique and not used in any of our other workshops.

Chances are after you finish the class you will want to create an entire army of Graveyard Ghouls!

The classes require no previous papier mache experience, only a willingness to work hard and follow instructions.

The classes involve a lot of physical activity such as standing, lifting, bending and using your hands to sculpt clay.

All tools and materials are supplied.

The workshops are very casual and designed to allow anyone regardless of artistic talent to complete a finished piece.

Students must be at least 16 years old, if a younger child is interested they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Workshops start at the published time with the studio opening 15 minutes prior if you wish to get situated and socialize.

Classes run until approximately three hours each.

Feel free to bring a drink and a snack, the studio will provide coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

This workshop requires a lot of hot glue work, a lightweight pair of work gloves is highly recommended.

The cost is $100 per person which includes a total of 12 hours of studio time plus all materials.

If you would like to sign up for a workshop please send an email to stolloween@gmail.com with the name and time of the workshop in the subject line.

Thursday, September 20th, 6 pm – 9 pm

Thursday, September 27th, 6 pm – 9 pm

Thursday, October 4th, 6 pm – 9 pm

This is the first large Pumpkin Workshop of the 2018 season.

These ginormous pumpkins stand about two feet tall and feature eyes that can be lit from within the pumpkin allowing for a fun and spooky glow.

All participants will start with the same pumpkin shape then work to design a character face.

Students can either design their own or use templates available in the studio.

These pumpkins are a lot of work but worth the effort as they add a unique touch to your Halloween decor.

Please note that each student will need to supply a clean recycled gallon plastic milk jug.
