STOLLOWEEN RAMBLINGS Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween 2019

Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween 2019

On September 28th, 2019 I will be in Marshall, Michigan at the Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween art show at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds. The show features over 50 of the most masterful fine Halloween artists in the country. The fact that I am included in this prestigious gathering is humbling to say the least.

After being accepted to the show I put some thought into what I would create to bring to Bewitching Peddlers. Simply stated I made things that I would like to see, the result is a collection of 13 to 15 inch tall skeleton figures, each with a specific theme.

I call my 2019 collection the “D-Series.” The series consists of Dapper, Digger, Demon, Doom and Dread, themed skellies each with a specific purpose in the afterlife. Each figure is made from traditional papier mache techniques and several different types of homemade paper clay. The build  required over 200 steps for each figure, a very time intensive and focused process.

Dapper. Graveyard Chic. These guys are decked out with a stylish top hat, jack o’lantern and cane. Each stand about 14 to 15 inches tall.

Digger. Dirty Deeds. These creatures guard the cemetery gates during the darkest of nights. Armed with a shovel and lantern they protect the resting place of their cohorts. Each stand about 13 to 14 inches tall.

Demon. Brimstone Ecstasy. Winged minions complete with pitchfork and chains and shackles. Each stand 13 to 14 inches tall.

Doom. Grim Arrival. Cloaked in shadows and on a mission, don’t answer the door when they come knocking. Each stands 13 to 15 inches tall.

Dread. Drunken Booty. Swashbuckling, rum drinking salt water-soaked skellies. Argggg! Each stand 13 to 15 inches tall.

These pieces were really fun to create. If you attend the Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween show please stop by and say hello. Thanks for looking, here are some more photos from the 2019 collection.
